1. Club Overview
KOOR is a non-profit motor racing club set up to host race meetings at Lydden Hill Raceway.
The promoter, Tony Rolfe, states that these rules have been compiled in the spirit of fair motor racing and competition.
Our aim is to create a friendly, fair and cost-effective racing opportunity for all members.
2. Driver Conduct
- All members must conduct themselves in a polite and safe manner on and off the track.
- Zero tolerance for verbal or physical abuse toward marshals, staff, officials, or other drivers.
- Drivers banned from other motorsport disciplines for misconduct will not be granted membership.
- Full DVLA driving licence required (MSA licence may be accepted in some cases).
- No driver, mechanic, or family member may approach Lydden Hill staff directly — contact your formula rep first.
3. Safety & Insurance Compliance
- We race under Lydden Hill insurance — strict zero tolerance on unnecessary damage or aggressive driving.
- Each incident reviewed by KOOR and/or Lydden race marshals.
- Dangerous driving or continuous damage will result in removal and potential permanent ban.
- No appeals procedure. Steward decisions are final.
4. Vehicle Requirements
- Cars must be clean and tidy at every meeting.
- Race numbers must be clearly visible on both sides.
- Noise limit: 100db @ 5000rpm
- Race receiver mandatory and must be working at all times.
5. Safety Wear (Minimum Requirement)
- Motorsport approved helmet
- Fire retardant race suit
- Fire retardant balaclava and gloves
6. Rule Infringements & Penalties
Penalties range from place deductions to permanent bans. Decisions made jointly by KOOR and Lydden race stewards.
7. Complaints Procedure
Drivers should first speak directly to the driver concerned or formula rep.
If lodging an official complaint:
- Complaint must be submitted via website
- Minimum £250 investigation fee
- Independent engineer may be instructed
- Fee refunded if complaint upheld
- Minimum £250 fine for rule breach
The race steward’s decision is final.
8. Social Media Policy
Unfounded or abusive online comments toward the club or drivers will not be tolerated.
9. Race Format
- 2 heats + 1 final per meeting
- All races rolling start
- 10 laps per race
- Points awarded for first 8 positions
- Final = double points
10. Start Procedure
Heat 1: 2-lap practice → rolling start
Heat 2 & Final: 1-lap warm up → rolling start
No overtaking before reaching start flag.
Jump starts will be penalised.
11. Membership
Membership and race fees are non-refundable and non-transferable.

LyddenRod Rules

1. Championship Organisation
The KOOR LyddenRod Championship is promoted by Kent Outlaw Oval Racing (KOOR) and organised by Lydden Hill Drivers Club LTD (LHDC LTD), licensed with NORA92 Motorsport.
Race meetings are held on the oval circuit at Lydden Hill Race Circuit (LHRC).
2. Liability & Risk
Motorsport is dangerous. By entering, competitors acknowledge the risks involved.
LHDC LTD, KOOR, LHRC and associated organisations accept no liability for injury, loss or damage except in cases of negligence causing personal injury or death.
No personal accident or vehicle insurance is included. Drivers are strongly advised to arrange their own cover.
3. Competitor Eligibility
- Must be fully paid KOOR member
- Must hold valid DVLA licence
- Must hold current NORA92 licence
- Minimum age: 17
- Under 18 requires written parental consent
- Must be medically fit
- No alcohol or impairing drugs permitted
- Passengers not permitted
- Pregnant persons may not compete
4. Entry Procedure
- Enter each round via KOOR
- Complete LHDC LTD online sign-on
- Present licence at race admin
- Must wear sign-on wristband and briefing wristband
- Wristband tampering = exclusion
5. Safety Clothing
- Motorsport-approved helmet
- Fire retardant race suit
- Gloves and balaclava
- Eye protection required if no windscreen
- Neck supports strongly recommended
6. Paddock Regulations
- 10mph speed limit
- Follow paddock marshal instructions
- Ground sheet required
- In-date fire extinguisher required
- No paddock bikes or unlicensed vehicles
- Waste oil must be disposed correctly
- Tyres must be taken off site
7. Format & Starts
- Rolling starts only
- Gridded in assembly area
- Format confirmed at drivers briefing
8. Penalties
KOOR may issue penalties for breaches including:
- Track limits
- Eligibility breaches
- Unfair advantage
LHDC LTD may exclude drivers for:
- Unsportsmanlike behaviour
- On-track contact
- Threatening behaviour
- Damage to venue
9. Vehicle Eligibility
- Front engine FWD small cars (Fiesta, Puma, Corsa etc.)
- Maximum 1800cc
- Maximum 130hp published standard power
- Steel construction only
- No hybrid or electric vehicles
- Must be built within spirit of formula
10. Noise Regulations
- Maximum 100dB static at 5000rpm
- Rev counter mandatory
- Drive-by monitoring in place
- Failure = removal from event
- No refund if failing noise or mechanical failure
11. Bodywork
- Standard bodywork only
- Securely fastened
- No sharp edges
- Bonnet & boot must have 2 additional pins
- Interior stripped (dashboard optional)
- Airbags removed
12. Engine Regulations
- 4-cylinder inline engines only
- Max 130hp published standard power
- Same-make engine swaps allowed
- Engine numbers must be declared
- Internal modifications permitted
- Standard throttle body (no aftermarket)
- Air filters free
13. Exhaust
- Manifold may be changed (decat allowed)
- Must comply with noise limits
14. Gearbox & Diff
- Free
- Must fit original mounts
15. ECU
- Free
- Remapping allowed
- Aftermarket ECU allowed
16. Brakes
- May upgrade within same vehicle range
- No aftermarket discs or calipers

Minirod Rules

7. Spirit of the Formula
Minirods are a budget formula.
If you are modifying your car to gain an advantage, it is probably not allowed.
If you are modifying your car to improve safety, it is probably allowed.
If it does not say you can do it — presume you cannot.
8. Vehicle Eligibility
- Only R50 Mini permitted
- JCW model allowed
- Cooper S model NOT permitted
- JCW parts allowed
- No Hybrid or Electric vehicles
9. Bodywork
- Standard bodywork only
- No lightening or skinning
- Bonnet & boot must have 2 additional clips/pins
- Interior fully removed (dashboard must remain)
- Cooper S bonnet allowed (cooling only)
- Rear spoilers allowed
- No sharp edges
- Paintwork must be tidy
10. Engine & Gearbox
- Standard 1.6cc engine only
- No internal modifications
- Standard camshafts (checked)
- Standard injectors (checked)
- Air filters may be aftermarket (within engine bay)
- Exhaust may be decat (must meet noise limit)
- No competition cams
- No competition clutches
- No lightened flywheels
- Standard ECU may be remapped
- No aftermarket ECU
- Any standard Mini gearbox allowed
- No LSD permitted
For 2027 the club may introduce a control ECU.
11. Brakes
- Must remain standard
- Must work on all 4 wheels
- Vented discs allowed (same diameter as standard)
- No Cooper S brake parts
- No aftermarket calipers
12. Suspension
- All components must remain standard
- Standard shocks only
- Springs free (original diameter)
- Adjustable front top mounts allowed (unmodified)
- Poly bushes allowed
- Top strut strengthening plates allowed (bolt-on only)
- No modification of mounting points
13. Wheels
- Any standard Mini wheel allowed
- 15” wheels from other production cars allowed (max 6.5 width, ET 35–39)
- No aftermarket or race wheels
- Same size/width/ET per axle
- No wheel spacers
- Wheel studs allowed (reasonable length)
14. Tyres
- Road tyres or track tyres permitted
- No slicks
For 2027 the club may introduce a controlled tyre.
15. Lights & Glass
- All lights must remain functional
- Windscreen and glass must remain functional
16. Seats & Harness
- Certified race seat securely bolted
- Minimum 5-point 3” harness
- Window net required
- Front & rear tow straps required
- Removable steering wheels allowed
17. Battery
- Must remain in standard location
- External battery isolator switch required
18. Fuel System
- Must remain standard
- Max ¼ tank at race start
- No relocation
- Max 25L fuel storage per vehicle
19. Roll Cage
- Minimum 6-point cage
- 1.5” x 10swg round tube

Junior Minirod Rules

- Bumpers securely fitted; arches may be modified/extended if safe
- Paintwork must be tidy
- Interior removed; dashboard may remain; airbags removed
10. Engine & Gearbox
- Any engine allowed; modifications, turbos, superchargers permitted
- ECU modifications allowed
- Any gearbox allowed
- Limited-slip or welded diffs permitted
11. Brakes
- Standard or uprated brakes permitted
- Bias braking allowed
- Must work on all four wheels
12. Suspension
- Fully open to any modification
13. Wheels & Tyres
- Compatible with vehicle specification
- Correct PCD, offset, centre bore, diameter, stud hole diameter required
- Driver responsible for safe fitment and torque
- Wheel spacers allowed; high-quality only; stacking prohibited
14. Lights & Glass
- All lights may remain; brake lights must be operational
- Windscreen and standard glass may remain
15. Numbers
- Racing number must be clearly displayed on both sides and front
16. Seats, Harnesses & Roll Cage
- Certified race seat securely bolted
- Minimum 5-point 3” harness
- Window net on driver side required
- Tow straps front & rear required; wire eyes recommended
- Removable steering wheel allowed
- Roll cage recommended 6-point tube cage, 1.5" x 10swg minimum
- Welding of highest quality; Motorsport UK recommendations advised

7. Vehicle Eligibility
- Front-engined FWD or RWD small hatchbacks (Nova, Corsa B/C, Adam, Micra, Fiesta, 106, Saxo)
- Maximum manufactured engine 1400cc; standard 1600cc engine allowed with restrictions
- 1400 Hotrod formula introduced 2024, based on Stockrods, Eurorods, Group A Hotrods, 1450 Hotrods
8. Bodywork
- Material and modifications free; lightening allowed; semi spaceframes permitted
- Arches and skirts encouraged
- Must be securely fastened with sufficient clips/pins
- No dangerous sharp edges or projections
- Bumpers securely fitted; arches may be modified/extended if safe
- Paintwork must be tidy
9. Noise Regulations
- Maximum 100dB static @ 5000rpm
- Rev counter mandatory
- Drive-by and perimeter monitoring in place
- Excessively noisy vehicles black flagged until remedial action
- Failure to meet noise = no participation/refund
10. Engine
- Either modified 1400cc (up to 1450cc) or standard 1600cc engines
- 1400: carburation free, no forced induction, all other modifications free
- 1600: Vauxhall 16v standard; other 1600cc engines allowed with permission; rebuilt allowed; no competition parts; pistons must be standard; flywheel may be lightened; exhaust manifolds standard; Weber 32/34 allowed on homemade/aftermarket inlet manifold
- KOOR may fit restrictor plates to balance power between 1400 and 1600 engines
11. Engine Sealing
- Engines must be sealed at season start by KOOR official
- Engines drilled for sealing; removal requires informing KOOR
- Unsealed engines will not score points

- Any steel or alloy wheels allowed
- Wheels must match vehicle specifications (PCD, offset, bore, diameter, stud hole)
- Driver responsible for safe fitment and torque
- Wheel spacers allowed; high-quality only; stacking prohibited
- Tyre controlled: NANKANG NA-1 – sizes 185/60-13, 185/60-14, 195/50-15
16. Numbers
- Racing number must be clearly displayed on both sides and front
17. Battery
- Must be securely fitted in suitable box
- External battery isolator switch required
18. Fuel System
- Purpose-built certified tank/pump required if relocated
- Tank must be enclosed in fireproof box
- Tank overflow must have non-return valve
- Metal fuel lines with in-line cut-off valve required
- Max 25L fuel storage per vehicle
19. Seats, Harness & Roll Cage
- Certified race seat securely bolted
- Minimum 5-point 3” harness
- Window net on driver side required
- Tow straps front & rear required; wire eyes recommended
- Removable steering wheel allowed
- Roll cage recommended 6-point tube cage, 1.5" x 10swg minimum
